The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection is responsible for some 117 Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) throughout the state, all of which allow waterfowl hunting during the appropriate season(s). Black Duck, American Coot, Pintails, Mallards, Mergansers, Redheads, Brant, Wood Duck, Scoters, Eiders, Canada Geese, Snow Geese, Blue Geese, Scaup, and Long-tailed Ducks may be hunted during season and within specified limits.

In addition, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service operates one National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in Connecticut -- Stewart B. McKinney which allows waterfowl hunting in season.
